Detox Craze (Raw Blogging #2)

It's actually funny that I'm writing this as I'm about to begin the 30 Day Cleanse from Teamiblend. But I've come to a point where I really need to express my thoughts and feelings about the craze with detox. A little while ago, I stumbled on Kimberly Snyder's book "The Beauty Detox Solution" and as I'm a sucker for all things holistic treatment of acne issues, I checked it. But just reading the description of the book made me cringe. It says "beauty expert Kimberly Snyder helps dozens of A-list celebrities get red-carpet ready—and now you’re getting the star treatment". Now, I don't critisise Snyder's work because I don't know her, I haven't even read the book and maybe it's a good one. No, what bothers me here is the "star treatment", the "celebrities" fuss. And it has revealed a latent side of the "wellness" world that really upsets me. Fame. We go crazy for theories, we spend so much money on stuffs like that and it makes me angry.
We seem to always fall for a miracle detox solution while our body doesn't need it. No really, it doesn't. And excessive detox or cleanse can put a serious stress on your body. But we jump on the trends of cleansing juices, teatox and other nonsense because it's so promising and beautiful (and so many IG stars are doing it!). I mean, it's true it seems to work. But do you even consider on who it's actually working? People who live a healthy lifestyle based on wholesome foods. So don't drown me in your juices, smoothies and other detox potions. It's just a trend. No need to waste your money on these empty promises. You want a healthy body, just eat healthy, avoid as much as possible processed food (and indulging sometimes will not intoxicate you and justify a 3 day sipping only juice!) and if you ever feel the need to cleanse your body, just drink a little more. Trust your organs, they can deal with the "toxins".

Now as a final note, I just want to tell you about my 30 Day Cleans (did I hear justification?).

I have terrible acne issues and tried almost everything. I won't talk about external treatments because I don't think, in my case, any had ever really worked. I'm not eating processed food, I've tried to cut dairy, meat, nothing worked. I know nuts and seeds (basically every oleaginous fruits) cause me breakouts but I also have some acne when I don't eat them. I've looked toward the ayurvedic and holistic treatments and came with the conclusion that I didn't lack any of the precious vitamins good to cure acne. Thinking of it, I realised I might have some absorption issues and, digging deeper, that these absorption issues can be linked to a digestive trouble. So this is the reason why I fell for the 30 Day Cleanse of Teami, because of their Teami Colon blend, which is not a laxative nor a real detox but just a way to clean the colon (hear me, colon! Not purge the liver, kidney or whatever organ). I don't really believe in the Teami Skinny blend but I thought it could go along pretty well. Now that I'm over with my justification, explanation, I'm gonna try this and see what comes out. If it doesn't work, I will turn myself toward the pre and pro-biotics.
